Miranda Joiner Dies in Rockford, Illinois While in Winnebago County Jail on December 7, 2025

Miranda Joiner, a 30-year-old inmate at the Winnebago County Jail, died after being found unresponsive inside the facility in Rockford, Illinois, on December 7, 2025. According to the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, correctional officers discovered Joiner at approximately 10:45 p.m. and immediately initiated life-saving measures with assistance from on-site medical staff.

Joiner was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office and the Winnebago-Boone County Integrity Task Force are jointly investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. Officials have not released further details as the investigation remains ongoing.
