Momina Khan Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 5 Near Slater Road in Ferndale, Washington on January 20, 2026
On January 20, 2026, at approximately 3:50 p.m., a fatal wrong-way collision occurred on Interstate 5 near Slater Road in Ferndale, Washington. According to the Washington State Patrol, a 27-year-old Blaine man driving a gray Chevy Silverado traveled northbound before crossing the median into oncoming traffic. The vehicle struck a Tesla Model 3 head-on. A third vehicle, identified as a Hyundai Tucson, was also involved in the incident. Southbound lanes of the freeway were closed for several hours following the crash.
Momina Khan, 22, of Blaine, Washington, was identified as the driver of the Tesla. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A 22-year-old passenger in the Tesla was transported to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center for treatment of injuries. No other individuals were reported injured. The collision remains under investigation by state authorities.
