Officer Preston Satzke Injured in Elton Hills Drive NW Crash in Rochester, Minnesota on January 18, 2026

Officer Preston Satzke was injured Sunday night in a vehicle collision on Elton Hills Drive NW in Rochester, Minnesota. The incident occurred at approximately 9:11 p.m. on January 18, 2026, at 2312 Elton Hills Drive NW in Olmsted County. Road conditions were reported to be snow- and ice-covered at the time of the crash.

Authorities reported that a 2018 Honda Pilot traveling westbound collided with a 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe and struck two officers who were outside their vehicle. Satzke, 22, of Rochester, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Mayo Clinic for treatment. Officer James Michael Logan, 51, was also injured and taken to Mayo Clinic with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda, 18-year-old Najmo Nuno Khalif, and his passenger, 18-year-old Jaeleen Martinez, were not injured. A passenger in the Chevrolet Tahoe, 41-year-old Byron Dwayne Campbell of Austin, Texas, was evaluated and reported no injuries. Alcohol was not suspected as a factor. Emergency responders included the Rochester Police Department, Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Rochester Fire Department, and Mayo Clinic Ambulance.
