Paul Ledwell and Lariston Lake Identified in Fatal Everett, Massachusetts Crane Collapse – October 27, 2025
EVERETT, Mass. — On October 27, 2025, officials identified the two men killed in a crane collapse at a construction site along the Mystic River in Everett. The victims were 37-year-old Paul Ledwell of Middleborough and 44-year-old Lariston Lake of Roslindale. Both were working at the former ExxonMobil Corporation terminal when the crane they were operating toppled into the water. The Everett Police Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have launched a joint investigation into the cause of the accident.
Preliminary reports suggest that a cable failure may have contributed to the collapse, potentially worsened by corrosion from prolonged exposure to salt water. Everett Mayor Carlo DeMaria confirmed that local authorities, alongside the U.S. Coast Guard, continue to investigate the site under the supervision of redevelopment company Charter. Officials have described the deaths as a devastating loss to the local labor community, and formal findings are expected once the full investigation concludes.
