On September 5, 2025, a fatal landscaping accident occurred in Fort Ann, New York, resulting in the death of 62-year-old Peter McCabe of Ronkonkoma. According to New York State Police, McCabe was operating a Bobcat skid steer around a pond off Deweys Bridge Road when the machine lost traction and slid into the water. Despite rescue efforts, McCabe became trapped and submerged.
