Richard Alan Kampa Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision in Virginia, Minnesota on January 31, 2026 at Highway 53 Intersection

On January 31, 2026, a two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 53 and Forest Road 257 in Sand Lake Unorganized Township, within Minnesota’s St. Louis County. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2023 Buick Enclave traveling on Forest Road 257 entered the intersection and accelerated into the path of a northbound 2018 Honda Ridgeline. The Ridgeline struck the SUV in a side-impact collision. Road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Honda Ridgeline, Richard Alan Kampa, 80, of Orr, Minnesota, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Virginia Hospital for treatment. The 17-year-old driver of the Buick Enclave was also taken to the same facility. Both drivers were reported to have been wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not suspected as a contributing factor. Emergency response was provided by local fire and medical personnel.
