In Rural Johnson, Arkansas, on October 25, 2025, a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 40 Westbound near mile marker 70 resulted in two fatalities and four reported injuries. According to the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, traffic had come to a stop when one vehicle struck the rear of another, triggering a chain reaction involving multiple cars and semi-trucks. Among the injured was 50-year-old Robert Barr of Fort Smith, who was a passenger in a 2019 Nissan. He was transported to Saint Mary’s Regional Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Authorities report that the crash occurred around 4:52 p.m. under cloudy skies and rainy conditions. The force of the collisions caused one vehicle to overturn in the median. Two individuals, whose identities have not yet been released, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
