Skylor Richford Killed and Mathilde Richford Airlifted After Head-On Crash on Highway 101 Near Sequim, Washington on February 16, 2026
A fatal head-on collision on U.S. Highway 101 east of Sequim, Washington, on February 16, 2026, left one person dead and two others seriously injured. The crash occurred shortly after 7:00 p.m. near milepost 267 at Palo Alto Road when a westbound 2004 Chevrolet Silverado crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 2007 Toyota FJ.
Authorities identified the driver of the Toyota as 34-year-old Mathilde Richford of Lynnwood, who was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. She sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment. A passenger in the vehicle, 39-year-old Skylor Richford of Lynnwood, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup, Micah Lacunza of Port Hadlock, was also airlifted to Providence Regional Medical Center and may face charges of vehicular assault and vehicular homicide. Investigators reported that drugs or alcohol were involved, and the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
