Tao Bunta Injured in Multi-Fatal Crash on U.S. Highway 12 in Walla Walla County, Washington on December 25, 2025

On the evening of December 25, 2025, a catastrophic collision occurred on U.S. Highway 12 in Walla Walla County, Washington, resulting in three fatalities and one injury. A westbound 2015 GMC Sierra, operated by a 22-year-old Benton City resident, struck a guardrail, overcorrected, and entered the eastbound lanes, colliding with a 2005 Mercury Mariner. The impact caused the deaths of the Mercury’s driver and two passengers, including a 6-month-old child.

Tao Bunta, the sole survivor in the Mercury Mariner, sustained injuries and received medical attention. Authorities reported that the Sierra driver was also hospitalized.
