Ty Curtis Fatally Struck While Cycling in McKenna, Washington on January 22, 2026

On January 22, 2026, Ty Curtis, a 55-year-old resident of Puyallup, was killed in a traffic collision on state Route 702 near its intersection with state Route 507 in McKenna, Washington. According to the Washington State Patrol, Curtis was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when he was struck by a vehicle. Emergency personnel arrived promptly, but life-saving measures were unsuccessful, and Curtis was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, aged 45, and a 37-year-old passenger in the vehicle sustained no injuries. Investigators have not released details regarding contributing factors, including whether drugs or alcohol were involved. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing under the supervision of WSP. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances that led to the fatal incident.
