Tyler Timmons Released from Hospital Following Shooting in Granite City, Illinois – December 13, 2025

On December 13, 2025, Officer Tyler Timmons, a 27-year-old Granite City police officer, was discharged from St. Louis University Hospital after sustaining two gunshot wounds in the line of duty the previous week. The incident occurred near Johnson Road and Carlson Avenue during a response to a report of an unwanted subject. The suspect, later identified as DJ Marshall, fired multiple shots, striking Timmons twice in the abdomen. Following a twelve-hour manhunt, Marshall was apprehended and is currently held in Madison County Jail facing attempted murder and related charges.

The hospital discharge was accompanied by a formal police procession, with nearly a dozen local and state law enforcement vehicles escorting Timmons back to Granite City. The demonstration of solidarity, including an American flag suspended between fire truck ladders, underscores the strong support from law enforcement agencies and the community. Timmons’ recovery is ongoing, with the hope of returning to duty in the near future.
