William Capozzielli Dies After Pedestrian Crash in Rolling Meadows, Illinois on February 4, 2026

On February 4, 2026, 70-year-old William Capozzielli of Rolling Meadows died from injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Algonquin Road and Meadowbrook Industrial Court. The incident occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m., prompting the closure of both eastbound and westbound lanes of Algonquin Road between Barker Avenue and New Wilke Road for several hours. Capozzielli was found in the roadway by responding officers and transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed that Capozzielli succumbed to those injuries. Authorities reported that the driver involved in the collision is cooperating with investigators. The crash remains under review, with assistance from the Major Case Assistance Team’s Serious Traffic Reconstruction Unit. The roadway reopened around 3 p.m. as officials continued to examine the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
