Alexander Leamon Killed in Crop-Dusting Plane Crash in Ogle County, Illinois

On the morning of July 22, 2025, a fatal plane crash occurred near the Ogle County Airport in Mount Morris, Illinois. The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Alexander Leamon of Lena, Illinois, who was the sole occupant of the Cessna 188 crop-dusting aircraft. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the crash took place around 9:35 a.m. on Tuesday. Authorities, including the Ogle County Sheriff's Office, responded to the scene and found the plane fully engulfed in flames on the north side of Illinois Route 64. The fire was quickly extinguished, but Leamon was pronounced dead at the scene.The incident caused significant disruption in the area, with Route 64 closed for several hours due to response and repair efforts. Seven utility poles and multiple power lines, belonging to ComEd, were damaged in the crash, leading to electrical service interruptions.
