Arthur Folasa Ah Loo Dies in Shooting at Salt Lake City Protest

On June 14, 2025, Arthur Folasa Ah Loo, 39, was fatally shot during a "No Kings" protest in Salt Lake City, Utah. The incident occurred at approximately 7:56 p.m. near 151 South State Street, as reported by the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD). Authorities state that Ah Loo, a participant in the demonstration, was struck by gunfire and, despite immediate medical intervention by SLCPD SWAT, the Salt Lake City Fire Department, and Gold Cross Ambulance, he died from his injuries at a hospital. The police have classified Ah Loo as an "innocent bystander" who was not the intended target of the shooter.

The suspect, Arturo Gamboa, 24, was arrested shortly after the incident near 102 South 200 East. Gamboa, found armed and wounded, faces murder charges following an encounter with two peacekeeping team members at the protest. According to the SLCPD, the peacekeepers observed Gamboa acting suspiciously, leading to a confrontation that resulted in an exchange of gunfire, during which Ah Loo was fatally injured.
