Arturo Paredes Injured in Fatal Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-30 in Arkansas
On July 21, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., a severe multi-vehicle collision occurred on I-30 Westbound near the 20-mile marker in Rural Hempstead, Hempstead County, Arkansas. The incident involved four vehicles: a 2018 International LT6 (Vehicle 1), a 2023 Volvo VNL (Vehicle 2), a 2022 RAM 2500 (Vehicle 3), and a 2025 Freightliner (Vehicle 4). According to the Arkansas State Police, traffic was halted due to a prior collision when Vehicle 1 failed to stop, striking Vehicle 2. This impact initiated a chain reaction, causing Vehicle 2 to collide with Vehicle 3, which subsequently struck Vehicle 4. The accident claimed two lives and left three individuals injured. Arturo J. Paredes, a 26-year-old resident of Hope, Arkansas, was a passenger in Vehicle 2 and sustained injuries requiring medical attention. He was transported to Christus St. Michaels / Oschner LSU Health Center. The fatalities were identified as Jonathan G. Garcia, 25, and Javier Rivera, 61, both passengers in Vehicle 2 and residents of Hope, Arkansas. The drivers of Vehicle 1, Kendrick Moore, 46, of Arlington, and Vehicle 2, Juan J. Torres, 20, of Nashville, Arkansas, were also injured.The Arkansas State Police are conducting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. The bodies of the deceased are being held at the Hempstead County Coroner’s Office, and notifications to next of kin have been completed. The weather was clear, and the road surface was dry at the time of the accident, with further details regarding the cause still under review by authorities.
