Matthew Manthe Killed in Pedestrian Accident in Kewanee

On the night of July 20, 2025, Matthew P. Manthe, a 51-year-old resident of Kewanee, Illinois, was fatally injured in a pedestrian accident. The incident took place in the 1000 block of West South Street, near OSF HealthCare St. Luke Medical Center, when Manthe was struck by a vehicle operated by a 17-year-old driver, as reported by the Kewanee Police Department.Emergency personnel, including the Kewanee Fire Department, responded promptly at 10:11 p.m., initiating life-saving measures at the scene.
