Juan Torres Injured in Fatal Multi-Vehicle Accident on I-30

On July 21, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., a multi-vehicle collision occurred on Interstate 30 westbound near the 20-mile marker in Rural Hempstead, Hempstead County, Arkansas. The incident involved four vehicles: a 2018 International LT6, a 2023 Volvo VNL, a 2022 RAM 2500, and a 2025 Freightliner. According to the Arkansas State Police, traffic had been halted due to a prior collision when the International LT6 failed to stop, striking the Volvo VNL. This collision initiated a chain reaction, with the Volvo VNL striking the RAM 2500, which then impacted the Freightliner.The accident resulted in two fatalities: Jonathan G. Garcia, aged 25, and Javier Rivera, aged 61, both passengers in the Volvo VNL and residents of Hope, Arkansas. Three individuals sustained injuries, including Juan J. Torres, the 20-year-old driver of the Volvo VNL from Nashville, Arkansas. Torres was transported to Christus St. Michaels / Oschner LSU Health Center for medical treatment.
