Candace Wilt Killed in DUI Pedestrian Crash on West Main Street in Decatur, Illinois

On the night of August 21, 2025, a fatal pedestrian collision occurred in Decatur, Illinois, resulting in the death of 38-year-old Candace Nichole Wilt. According to the Decatur Police Department, a red Pontiac driven by 36-year-old Issaih K. Flagg veered off the roadway, crossed the eastbound lane, and drove along the south sidewalk in the 1500 block of West Main Street, striking two pedestrians.

Wilt was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 29-year-old male victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Flagg, whose license was suspended, was arrested and booked into the Macon County Jail. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated DUI causing death, aggravated DUI causing great bodily harm, and driving while license suspended.
