Emily Johnson Killed in Belleville, Illinois Hit-and-Run on August 21, 2025

On the morning of August 21, 2025, 33-year-old Emily Johnson of Mascoutah, Illinois, was fatally struck in a hit-and-run incident on Green Mount Road in Belleville, Illinois. The collision occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. near the St. Clair County Orchard Trail overpass, in proximity to Eckert’s Orchard and State Route 15. According to preliminary reports, Johnson was on foot when she was hit by a driver who fled the scene prior to the arrival of emergency responders.

Johnson was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Authorities located the suspect vehicle and detained a person of interest; however, that individual was released pending further investigation. The Belleville Police Department continues to seek information related to the case.
