Courtley Platson Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-35 in Faribault, MN

On April 24, 2025, at approximately 9:44 a.m., a multi-vehicle collision occurred on southbound Interstate 35 near milepost 57 in Faribault, Rice County, Minnesota, resulting in injuries to several individuals, including Courtley Platson. The incident involved three vehicles: a 2018 GMC Yukon, in which Platson was a passenger; a 2024 Western Star tractor-trailer; and a 2013 BMW 750. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the vehicles were all traveling southbound when they collided under dry road conditions. Platson, 33, of Hastings, Minnesota, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to District 1 Hospital for treatment. Notably, she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, while the driver of the Yukon, 64-year-old Lisa Kay Reinert, and a juvenile male passenger, both of whom were also injured, were restrained.

Emergency responders, including the Rice County Sheriff’s Office, Faribault Police Department, and North Memorial Ambulance, attended the scene to provide assistance. The drivers of the BMW and the tractor-trailer, 43-year-old Michael Paul Horn of Newport, Minnesota, and 63-year-old Kenneth Doyle Schmitz of Oxford Junction, Iowa, respectively, reported no injuries and did not require medical transport.
