Pedestrian Mary Shockley Fatally Struck in Spokane’s West Hills Neighborhood

On the evening of April 24, 2025, a tragic accident occurred in Spokane, Washington, resulting in the death of 78-year-old Mary Shockley. According to the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office, Shockley was struck by a vehicle at approximately 9:15 p.m. while walking in the West Hills Neighborhood, near the intersection of Sunset Highway and Lewis Street. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and fully cooperated with law enforcement, showing no signs of impairment, as reported by Spokane Police Officer Daniel Strassenberg. Following a thorough investigation, the driver was released without charges.

The medical examiner’s report confirmed that Shockley’s death was accidental, attributing it to blunt-force injuries sustained in the collision.
