David Schmidt Involved in Semi-Truck Accident on Interstate 35 in Duluth

On July 28, 2025, at 05:12, a traffic incident occurred on Interstate 35 at 40th Avenue West in Duluth, St. Louis County, Minnesota. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2023 Peterbilt tanker semi, driven by David Clifford Schmidt, 64, of Wrenshall, Minnesota, was merging onto the interstate when it collided with a semi tractor pulling a flatbed trailer. The semi tractor did not stop following the collision. Subsequently, the Peterbilt semi struck a barrier.David Clifford Schmidt sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Essentia Duluth (St. Marys) for medical attention. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident, and alcohol was not a factor. The Duluth Police Department and Duluth Fire Department responded to the scene. The investigation is considered complete as of 07:16 on July 28, 2025.
