Dmytro Pavlus Involved in Serious Head-On Crash on Highway 97A

A serious head-on collision took place on Highway 97A near Knapps Hill Tunnel on May 30, 2025, at approximately 7:32 p.m. The incident involved three vehicles and was initiated by Darren A. Reyes, a 37-year-old from Entiat, driving southbound in a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox. Reyes crossed into the northbound lane near milepost 225, colliding with a 2007 Lexus operated by Dmytro Pavlus, a 35-year-old resident of Auburn, before being struck by a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Juvenal Gomez, 35, of Chelan.

Washington State Patrol reports indicate that Reyes may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. He sustained severe injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Pavlus and Gomez received treatment for their injuries at Lake Chelan Health. All three vehicles involved were deemed total losses.
