Evelyn Nelson Injured in Fatal Siloam Springs Crash
On Wednesday, May 24, 2025, a fatal motor vehicle accident occurred on U.S. Highway 412 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to three others. According to the Siloam Springs Police Department, 84-year-old Peggy Nelson of Westville, Oklahoma, perished when the 2010 Chevrolet Traverse she was in failed to yield while entering the highway to travel westbound. The vehicle was subsequently struck on the driver’s side by an eastbound Freightliner truck, driven by 26-year-old Jose Prieto of Amarillo, Texas, which then veered into the westbound lanes and collided head-on with a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox operated by 79-year-old Janie Brown of Siloam Springs.
Evelyn Nelson, a 64-year-old passenger in the Traverse and a resident of Westville, Oklahoma, sustained injuries in the collision. The drivers of the Freightliner and the Equinox, Prieto and Brown respectively, were also injured.
