Faulkner County Deputies Injured in High-Speed Rollover Crash
On July 21, 2025, in Faulkner County, Arkansas, Officer Deputy Nathan McLain and Recruit Deputy Joshua Matthews of the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office sustained injuries in a high-speed rollover crash while responding to an emergency call. The deputies were dispatched to assist a Vilonia Police Department officer who was being assaulted and in need of immediate aid. According to official reports, their patrol vehicle collided with another vehicle, veered off the roadway, struck a concrete structure, and overturned after hitting a tree, ultimately coming to rest upside down. The incident resulted in a ruptured gas main and gasoline leakage from the wrecked vehicle. Despite his injuries, Deputy Matthews extricated himself and Deputy McLain from the wreckage, moving them to a safe distance before emergency responders arrived. Both deputies are currently in stable condition and expected to recover fully. The crash occurred during a response to a separate incident in Vilonia, where a 15-year-old and an 18-year-old were later arrested for assaulting an officer and stealing a patrol vehicle. Authorities have stated that the collision remains under investigation, with the deputies’ rapid response to the high-priority call identified as a contributing factor.
