Inmate Death at Oklahoma County Detention Center: Clinton Pike Killed in Altercation

On the early morning of April 25, 2025, a tragic incident occurred at the Oklahoma County Detention Center (OCDC) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, resulting in the death of 40-year-old inmate Clinton Pike. According to OCDC officials, a detention officer discovered evidence of an altercation between Pike and another inmate, 20-year-old Orenzo Byrd, at approximately 2:00 a.m. Medical personnel were immediately summoned, and life-saving measures were attempted. Despite these efforts, Pike was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 3:10 a.m. due to injuries sustained during the altercation.

Clinton Pike was serving a sentence at OCDC for charges of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, while Byrd had been booked into the facility on April 11, 2025, for Robbery or Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. A preliminary investigation by the Oklahoma County Detention Center Criminal Investigation Division (CID) suggests that Byrd assaulted Pike, leading to his death.
