Janakaye Schweitzer Involved in Non-Life-Threatening Car Accident in Hackensack, Cass County

On April 8, 2025, at approximately 7:21 a.m., a two-vehicle collision occurred on Highway 371 at County Road 40 in Hackensack, Cass County, Minnesota, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries to one driver. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2021 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 41-year-old Janakaye Ronee Schweitzer of Crosslake, Minnesota, was traveling northbound when it stopped to yield to a vehicle turning onto County Road 40. A 2005 Chevy Silverado, operated by 42-year-old Gavin Ray Peterson of Hackensack, Minnesota, failed to notice the stopped Jeep and rear-ended it, causing the accident.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident, and alcohol was not a factor. Schweitzer sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Joe’s Hospital in Brainerd for treatment, while Peterson reported no injuries. The road conditions were dry, and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance at the scene. The Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
