Lance Shupe Killed in Motorcycle Accident in Spring Grove, IL – September 10, 2025

On September 10, 2025, a fatal traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Sunset Road and E. Applewood Lane in Spring Grove, Illinois, resulting in the death of 31-year-old motorcyclist Lance Shupe of Waukegan. According to authorities, Shupe was operating a 2025 Yamaha YFZ-R7 motorcycle westbound on Sunset Road when a 2013 Ford F-350 pickup truck traveling eastbound turned left onto Applewood Lane directly into his path. The resulting impact ejected Shupe from the motorcycle. Emergency responders found him unresponsive at the scene and pronounced him dead shortly after.

The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and did not require medical attention. Investigators from the Spring Grove Police Department, the Spring Grove Fire Protection District, and the Major Crash Assistance Team are continuing their investigation. At this time, there is no indication of intoxication, though toxicology reports are pending.
