Robert DeWayne Killed in Hit-and-Run Incident in Walla Walla

On May 24, 2025, Robert DeWayne, a 71-year-old resident of Walla Walla, Washington, was involved in a hit-and-run incident while riding his motorcycle. The collision occurred at the intersection of West Poplar Street and South 11th Avenue. According to the Walla Walla Police Department, the driver of an SUV struck DeWayne and fled the scene at high speed. Witnesses provided a photograph of the vehicle, which assisted in the investigation. DeWayne was transported to the hospital with severe injuries and passed away on May 28, 2025.

On May 25, 2025, patrol officers located an SUV matching the evidence from the crash scene. A search warrant was obtained, and investigators identified Tycie Harper, 26, of Walla Walla, as the suspect. Surveillance footage allegedly shows Harper entering the driver’s seat of the SUV minutes before the incident. Harper was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run attended, causing death, and turned herself in to the Walla Walla Police Department on May 29, 2025. She is currently in custody and cooperating with authorities. The Walla Walla community has expressed support for DeWayne’s family, noting his involvement in search and rescue and membership in the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association.
