Robert Erickson Seriously Injured in Wellfleet Head-On Collision

In Wellfleet, Massachusetts, on September 2, 2025, 73-year-old Robert Erickson of Eastham sustained serious injuries in a head-on motor vehicle collision on Route 6. Erickson was a front-seat passenger in a 2020 BMW crossover sedan that veered across the centerline and collided with an oncoming 2013 Audi sedan. Emergency responders transported him to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment.

The crash, which occurred near Shepley Wood Products around 5:45 p.m., resulted in multiple injuries, including two 18-year-olds who were flown to Boston-area hospitals in critical condition. The BMW’s operator, Carlos Ibarguen, 60, of Eastham, was uninjured but is now facing charges including negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating outside the limits of his license restriction. Authorities continue to investigate the incident with assistance from the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office.
