State Trooper and Teen Passenger Involved in Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 10 Near Clear Lake
On the evening of April 9, 2025, a serious traffic incident unfolded on Highway 10 near Clear Lake, Minnesota, initiated by a wrong-way driver and culminating in multiple collisions. The sequence of events began when 70-year-old Dale Braun of St. Cloud, driving a Ford Flex, traveled eastbound in the westbound lanes before turning onto 70th Avenue and re-entering the eastbound lane of Highway 10. There, his vehicle was struck in a T-bone collision by a GMC Sierra pickup driven by 17-year-old Blayke Mostad of Milaca, carrying passengers 15-year-old Braxton Mostad of Milaca and 19-year-old Thomas Hansen of Big Lake, leaving both vehicles obstructing the left lane.
As this initial crash unfolded, 36-year-old State Patrol Trooper Ryan Moeser of Clear Lake, responding to reports of the wrong-way driver, was traveling eastbound on Highway 10 in his Dodge Charger when he encountered the stationary vehicles and was unable to avoid a collision. All five individuals involved were transported to medical facilities: Trooper Moeser and Thomas Hansen were treated and released, Dale Braun was admitted to CentraCare β St. Cloud Hospital, and the Mostad brothers were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. Authorities are investigating whether any occupants were outside their vehicles during the second collision and have ruled out alcohol as a contributing factor in the incident.
