Barbara Jean West Injured in Highway 70 and Maple Avenue Intersection Crash in Rock Creek, Minnesota on February 14, 2026
A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 70 and Maple Avenue in Pine County resulted in injuries to four individuals on February 14, 2026.
Authorities reported that the crash occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m. when a 2016 Buick LaCrosse traveling southbound on Maple Avenue entered the intersection and collided with a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek that was heading eastbound on Highway 70. Barbara Jean West, 77, of Robbinsdale, Minnesota, was a passenger in the Buick at the time of the crash. West sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Burnett Medical Center in Grantsburg for treatment. The Buick was driven by George Gabriel West, 79, also of Robbinsdale, who was likewise injured. The Subaru was operated by Craig Stephen Johnson, 57, of Grantsburg, Wisconsin, with passenger Kari Ann Kowalski-Steffen, 54, also of Grantsburg. Both occupants of the Subaru were reported to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to the same hospital. Authorities indicated that all individuals involved were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not suspected as a contributing factor. Road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the collision.
