Jerome Venters and Gloria Venters Killed in DUI Motorcycle Crash in Chewelah, Washington on October 9, 2025

On October 9, 2025, Jerome Venters, 74, and Gloria Venters, 76, were killed in a fatal collision involving an impaired driver on Highway 395 near Chewelah, Washington. The Washington State Patrol reported that the couple was traveling southbound on a motorcycle around 3:30 p.m. when a Jeep Patriot, driven by 52-year-old Ida Hildebrand, crossed into the southbound lane while attempting to pass another vehicle and struck the motorcycle.

Both Jerome and Gloria Venters were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep, Hildebrand, was reportedly under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash and has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide. The investigation remains ongoing.
