Casimir Ries Killed in Lake Zurich, Illinois Pedestrian Accident on September 20, 2025
On the morning of September 20, 2025, 59-year-old Casimir Ries of Lake Zurich, Illinois, was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing the intersection of Route 12 and Deerpath Road. The incident occurred at approximately 12:40 a.m. when a 2018 Lexus SUV traveling eastbound on Route 12 collided with Ries while he was walking north, reportedly in or near the crosswalk.
Emergency personnel transported Ries to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Preliminary autopsy results from the Lake County Coroner’s Office indicate that the cause of death was blunt force trauma. The driver of the Lexus remained at the scene. The incident is under investigation by both the Lake Zurich Police Department and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team. No arrests have been made as of this time.
