Death of Cash Weeks at Jenkins County Jail: Millen, Georgia – October 8, 2025

Authorities in Jenkins County have confirmed the death of inmate Cash Elliott Weeks, who was found unresponsive at the county jail between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on October 7, 2025. Sheriff Robert Oglesby reported that Weeks died by suspected suicide, one week after his arrest in connection with a shooting incident that prompted a high-speed chase ending in Burke County.

Weeks had been taken into custody on September 29 and faced multiple charges brought by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Georgia State Patrol, including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, hit and run, fleeing or attempting to elude, and reckless driving. The circumstances surrounding his detention and subsequent death remain under review as officials finalize their investigative procedures.
