Houston Mail Carrier Steven Marks Killed in Traffic Collision on October 18, 2025

On the morning of October 18, 2025, Steven Marks, a 58-year-old postal worker in Houston, Texas, died after his United States Postal Service vehicle was struck from behind by a pickup truck on Antoine Drive. Marks’ vehicle collided with a utility pole as a result of the impact. Witnesses at the scene, including resident Franko Ornelas, intervened to secure the driver of the truck, identified as Jose Humberto Romero, until law enforcement arrived. Romero was subsequently arrested for intoxication manslaughter, a first-degree felony under Texas law due to a prior DWI conviction.

Marks was a long-serving member of the Houston postal community and was widely regarded by neighbors as cheerful and reliable.
