Margaret Shewmaker Injured in Fatal I-40 Collision in Dyer, Arkansas on September 29, 2025
On September 29, 2025, a fatal two-vehicle collision occurred on Interstate 40 eastbound near mile marker 20 in Dyer, Crawford County, Arkansas. According to the Arkansas State Police, a 2000 Mercury attempted to make a U-turn when it was struck by an eastbound 2005 Freightliner. The impact caused the Freightliner to catch fire.
Margaret Shewmaker, 62, of Westville, Oklahoma, was a passenger in the Mercury and sustained injuries in the crash. She was transported to Mercy Fort Smith for medical treatment. The driver of the Mercury, 62-year-old Ricky Riley of Westville, Oklahoma, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner, Keith Woods, 64, of Cedar Hill, Missouri, also sustained injuries. Road and weather conditions were reported as dry and clear at the time of the incident. The investigation is being conducted by Cpl. Michael Bowman of the Arkansas State Police.
