Patrick Remiger Killed in Fire Truck Rollover in Sandnes Township, Minnesota – September 26, 2025
On the evening of September 26, 2025, a fatal single-vehicle crash occurred on 490th Street near 160th Avenue in Sandnes Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. A 2006 fire truck, traveling northbound, left the roadway, rolled, and entered the west ditch. The vehicle was carrying three occupants at the time of the rollover.
Patrick Steven Remiger, a 43-year-old male from Wood Lake, Minnesota, was pronounced deceased at Marshall Hospital following the crash. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. The driver, 37-year-old Andrew William Vanhecke, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to Marshall Hospital. A 6-year-old passenger, Beaux Vanhecke, was injured and taken to the same facility. Alcohol use was confirmed for the driver. Emergency response was provided by Yellow Medicine and Lyon County Sheriff's Offices, along with Cottonwood Fire and Ambulance.
