Janet Lund Injured in Deer-Related Crash on Highway 48 in Clover Township, MN – October 8, 2025

On October 8, 2025, Janet Marie Lund, 54, of Cloquet, Minnesota, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle incident caused by a deer on Highway 48 in Clover Township, Pine County. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a westbound 2015 Nissan Rogue struck a deer near Milepost 15. The impact sent the deer airborne into the eastbound lane, where it collided with Lund's 2013 Honda CR-V.

Emergency services responded to the scene, and Lund was transported to Sandstone Essentia Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Nissan, Penny Lu Garlitz, 67, of Monticello, was not injured. Road conditions were reported as dry, and alcohol was not a factor in Lund’s case. The investigation remains ongoing, but no further injuries were reported.
