Samuel Ward’s Electrocution at Clinton, Illinois Clean Energy Center on November 15, 2025
Authorities in DeWitt County, Illinois have identified 29-year-old Samuel Ward of Decatur as the worker who died in a workplace accident at the Clinton Clean Energy Center. According to the DeWitt County Coroner, Ward was electrocuted Friday afternoon while performing work on an electrical transformer. An autopsy has been scheduled to further determine the precise cause and circumstances of the fatal incident.
Constellation Energy Corporation, owner of the facility, confirmed that Ward was employed by an external contractor and stated that the accident occurred at approximately 2 p.m. The company expressed its intention to provide support to employees and contractors affected by the event. The investigation remains ongoing as officials review safety procedures and operational conditions at the site.
