Tragic I-85 Crash Kills Eight Members of the Ramírez Family in Jackson County, Georgia on October 13, 2025
On October 13, 2025, a catastrophic collision on Interstate 85 in Jackson County, Georgia, resulted in the deaths of eight members of the Ramírez family. The victims, ranging in age from three to 42, were traveling in a Dodge minivan when it was rear-ended by a semi-truck tanker. Authorities reported that the truck followed too closely, leading to the devastating collision and subsequent fire that consumed the vehicle. Among the deceased were Maribel Ramírez, Justin, Andy, Natali, Kayle, and Evan Ramírez, as well as Kenia Ramírez—who was three months pregnant at the time—and her husband, Darwin Ventura.
The driver of the semi-truck, Kane Hammock, was arrested and charged with eight counts of second-degree vehicular homicide, second-degree vehicular feticide, following too closely, distracted driving, and operating a vehicle without a current license plate.
